In times of crisis or emergency, business continuity management (BCM) is an essential means of maintaining services and activities for both private sector businesses and public sector authorities. Planning to manage business risks must ensure that an organizations activities and reputation are protected, and at the same time that emergency operations are able to bring a crisis situation under control. The complexities of modern business in a globalised environment and the pervasive effects of hazards and disasters are posing new and dynamic challenges to organisations. From supply chain management to effective communication with the public and shareholders, from crisis coordination to reputation management, business continuity is a rapidly developing field.
The GRF Business Continuity Conference 2012 will update business and policy leaders on lessons to be learned out of recent large-scale disasters and provide the opportunity to share experiences and concerns. The Conference is announced internationally, with a specific focus on Europe, North America, China, India, Russia and Japan. The event is designed for representatives from the business sector, the public administration, IGOs, and research.
Mainly addressed are the infrastructure and service sectors (energy, water, food, transportation, bank, investment, pension fund, insurance/reinsurance, etc.) Representatives of national and multi-national companies are particularly encouraged to join the event.
In panel debates and interactive discussions the participants will focus on the process of managing an extraordinary crisis along the principles of Integrative Risk Management and discuss in depth on forward-thinking solutions for tail risks, risk communication, reputation loss, and the consequences for investment funds, post-crisis regulatory reforms of standards and legislation, and insurability issues.
