BEIJING NORMAL UNIVERSITY
The Beijing Normal University, a key university under the administration of the Ministry of Education, is a renowned institution of higher education known for teacher education, education science and basic learning in both the arts and the sciences. The research-oriented university has a history of more than 100 years. During the last two decades, the Beijing Normal University has developed a strong education, training and research program on risk and disaster science in China which lays great emphasis on exchange and cooperation with international education, training and research institutions.
EUR-OPA MAJOR HAZARDS AGREEMENT
EUR-OPA Major Hazards Agreement is a platform for co-operation in the field of major natural and technological disasters between Europe and the South of the Mediterranean. Its field of competence covers the major natural and technological disasters - knowledge, prevention, risk management, post-crisis analysis and rehabilitation.
The main objectives of the EUR-OPA Major Hazards Agreement are to reinforce and to promote co-operation between Member States in a multi-disciplinary context to ensure better prevention, protection against risks and better preparation in the event of major natural or technological disasters.
Set up by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in 1987 [Resolution (87)2], the Agreement is "open" because any non-member State of the Council of Europe may apply to become a member. It has to date 26 Member States.

GLOBAL FORUM ON URBAN & REGIONAL RESILIENCE
The Global Forum on Urban and Regional Resilience brings together university researchers and partner organizations to facilitate conversations about patterns and processes of urbanization and regional development, with a special emphasis on the long-term resilience of places and communities. The particular focus of the Forum is the evolutionary and transformational resilience of cities and the way that places adapt – or not – to flows of capital, people, resources, and ideas. The Forum facilitates interdisciplinary research into the political economy of resilience and organizes workshops and conferences that bring together scholars and practitioners with significantly different perspectives and responsibilities. The Forum also has a mission to engage a broader public toward an understanding of cities, urbanization, and regional development. The Forum’s research initiatives focus on how the relationships among markets, institutions and the state are challenged by the scale and complexity of contemporary socio-economic processes that are spatially highly uneven. From the process of urbanization to regional imbalances in the flow of goods, labor and capital, the path-dependent trajectories of urban and regional resilience are inextricably linked to the increasingly financialized character of the global economy.

IRIDeS - International Research Institute of Disaster Science
Having experienced the catastrophic disaster in 2011, Tohoku University has founded the International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS). Together with collaborating organizations from many countries and with broad areas of specializations, the IRIDeS conducts world-leading research on natural disaster science and disaster mitigation. Based on the lessons from the 2011 Great East Japan (Tohoku) earthquake and tsunami disaster, IRIDeS aims to become a world centre for the study of the disasters and disaster mitigation, learning from and building upon past lessons in disaster management from Japan and around the world. Throughout, the IRIDeS will contribute to on-going recovery/reconstruction efforts in the affected areas, conducting action-oriented research, and pursuing effective disaster management to build sustainable and resilient societies, the IRIDeS innovates the past paradigm of Japan’s and world’s disaster management to catastrophic natural disasters, hence to become a foundation stone of disaster mitigation management and sciences.

The International Emergency Management Society TIEMS
TIEMS is a Global Forum for Education, Training, Certification and Policy in Emergency and Disaster Managemeent. TIEMS is dedicated to developing and bringing the benefits of modern emergency management tools, techniques and good industry practises to society for a safer world. This is acomplished through the exchange of information, methodology innovations and new technologies, to improve society's ability to avoid, mitigate, respond to, and recover from natural and man-made disasters.
TIEMS provides a platform for all stakeholders within the global emergency and disaster management community to meet, network and learn about new technical and operational methodologies. It also aims to exchange experience on good industry practises. This will influence policy makers worldwide to improve global cooperation and to establish global standards within emergency and disaster management.
