3rd International Disaster and Risk Conference 2010

The 3rd International Disaster and Risk Conference IDRC Davos 2010 is now history. With the progress of the conference, we are very satisfied. With about 850 registered participants from nearly 100 countries, we were somewhat below expectations due to  a number of other short notice conferences with a similar target audience like the climate conference in Bonn in preparation of COP 16 in Mexico.

Altough the outcome of the Conference is very promising. The integral approach has finally  gained international acceptance, this is also in the sense of the great diversity of topics and participants.

For GRF Davos was very gratifying that a number of high-ranking delegations were represented and we could sign a collaboration agreement with the Beijing Normal University. Also the book on Micro-Insurance was launched at the conference and came across a very big response. In addition, we could open the conference with the announcement of a price of the Munich Re Group up to 100,000 EURO - these are some examples of the outcomes. The first project will be awarded at the IDRC Davos 2012.

"From Thoughts to Knowledge to Action" will still be our guide for the further GRF Davos activities. Encouraged by the successful outcomes of the conference - we are looking forward with great motivation to the planing for  future activities and in particular the IDRC Davos 2012.
